How India-China Ties Shaped Access

In April 1954, under Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, India and China signed the Agreement on Trade and Intercourse between the Tibet Region of China and India, popularly known as the Panchsheel Agreement. Under the agreement, India agreed to withdraw the extra-territorial rights it had inherited from the British in Tibet.
