The Indian Coordination Committee of Farmers Movements (ICCFM), a network of farmers’ organisations across 11 states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, has urged the government to exclude all aspects of agriculture from the US trade deal in order to protect the interests of Indian farmers. “If the Indian government moves forward with trade deals that overlook critical issues affecting our farmers, movements like ours will be compelled to intensify our protests against such anti-farmer policies.
