India bolstered its nuclear arsenal and surpassed neighbouring Pakistan with a growing emphasis on longer-range weapons capable of targeting locations throughout China, according to a Stockholm-based think tank. The report, released by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) on Monday, put India’s ‘stored’ nuclear warheads at 172 in January this year while the number for Pakistan was 170. A year earlier, India’s tally stood at 164, according to SIPRI.
