Beneath our feet flows a forgotten river - one you may have never seen, but which is vital to the history of our city. The River Rea might be small but it holds big significance. The Rea is the river on which the city was founded by the Beorma tribe in the seventh century - the Anglo-Saxon name of the settlement now called Birmingham. But for a river with so much historical significance, the Rea has been largely forgotten by Brummies over the years.
