GJEPC appeals to industries to stop import of rough diamonds

Facing a crisis due to lack of demand for polished natural diamonds and studded jewellery in the international market, the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) on Wednesday appealed to diamond industries to stop importing rough diamonds from October 15 to December 15. A meeting was organised by GJEPC – set up by the Union government to promote Indian gem and jewellery industry – in Mumbai on Wednesday to discuss the current situation.
