Trolls, deepfakes, cyberattacks: We should ask candidates about information battleground

The press, as always, will play a major role in the unfolding 2024 campaign, starting with the questions journalists ask candidates for the White House, Congress and other offices. I am not above reading a story about the latest polls, but what matters more are the ideas that those running for office have about solving the problems that affect our lives, communities and nation. The second GOP presidential debate on Sept. 27 offers a chance for journalists to dig more deeply into those ideas.
