The Alabama Republican senator Tommy Tuberville is “prepared to burn the military down” with his block on promotions in protest of Pentagon policy on abortion, the Connecticut Democratic senator Chris Murphy said. “I think everybody’s been hoping that Senator Tuberville would back down,” Murphy told reporters at the Capitol on Tuesday. “And I think we have to come to the conclusion that that is not happening and that he is prepared to burn the military down. “Maybe Republicans were hopeful that leading up to the August break he would relent.
