Morning Update: Google will stop linking to Canadian news

Good morning, Google warned yesterday that it will remove links to Canadian news stories from search results in this country in response to the Online News Act. The act, which will go into effect in about six months, requires tech companies to negotiate deals with news organizations to compensate them for linking to their articles. Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, has also said it will block the posting and sharing of Canadian news stories on both platforms.
