TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan on Wednesday expressed concern about China's military activity around Taiwan with U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a visit to the self-ruled island. Japan's top government spokesman Hirokazu Matsuno said Tokyo conveyed its concern to China over the planned military drills near Taiwan from Thursday, saying the affected area overlaps with Japan's exclusive economic zone. Beijing regards Taiwan as a renegade province to be reunified with the mainland, by force if necessary.
