When I moved to Kentucky nearly five years ago, I still had a mild obsession with gelato. Back home in Hawaii, I was a frequent customer at Il Gelato, a gelateria owned by a man who is somewhat of a gelato expert — he was the captain of Team USA at the World Gelato Championship.
