China Strengthens Oversight on Rare Earth Export Violations

China is implementing new measures to enhance oversight on violations related to the export of dual-use strategic mineral items, offering rewards for reporting such infractions. The Ministry of Commerce announced that any organisation or individual can report suspected violations, with the goal of combating irregularities. These measures, effective July 1, aim to address various violations, including exports without proper licenses and the illicit transfer of strategic-mineral-related technologies through different channels. Export entities are encouraged to self-disclose any suspected violations to potentially receive lighter penalties.
