China’s Zijin Mining has introduced 290 battery-electric haul trucks at its Wulagen zinc mine in Xinjiang. This is one of the largest uses of electric mining vehicles so far. Now, over 80 percent of the mine’s transportation runs on electric power as Zijin works toward lower-carbon mining. The mining firm could not find an electric haul truck that met the mine’s needs, so the company worked with equipment maker Longking to design a custom truck for the site.
