Oil prices fell and stocks jumped over hopes that the US and Iran will reach a deal to end their war in the Middle East. Brent crude oil, the international benchmark, fell as much as 1.4pc to a two-month low of $92.40 overnight as traders bet on a breakthrough that would allow the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
