China successfully launched the Shenzhou 23 spacecraft from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwestern China. The mission includes three astronauts, one of whom, Lai Ka-ying, is the first astronaut from Hong Kong to embark on a space mission. Lai, with a doctoral degree in computer forensics, will be part of a crew conducting numerous science and application projects during their time in space.
