China covertly trained Russian troops later deployed on Ukraine frontlines: Report

China secretly trained around 200 Russian military personnel last year, with some of those soldiers later returning to fight in Ukraine, according to a report by Reuters citing European intelligence agencies and related documents. The report said the covert programme was carried out under a dual-language Russian-Chinese agreement signed by senior military officers from both countries in Beijing on July 2, 2025.
