Immigration lawyers have been warned that they risk serious punishment after they were found to have fed confidential legal documents into ChatGPT. The Bar Standards Board, which regulates the barristers’ profession, has updated its rulebook to warn lawyers against using AI, saying it risks leading to more errors in legal documents and breaching client confidentiality. It follows a series of cases where lawyers have been found using AI to draft legal documents.
