LONDON (AP) — A U.K. border official and a former Hong Kong police officer were convicted Thursday of assisting China’s spy agency by conducting “shadow” policing operations in Britain. Peter Wai, 38, and Bill Yuen, 65, both dual Chinese and British nationals, acted as “shadow” police by posing as legitimate officers or intelligence agents to conduct surveillance and gather information about Hong Kong pro-democracy supporters and others deemed “persons of interest,” prosecutors said.
