Assisted living I am outraged by the growing imbalance in assisted living and memory care communities where profits appear to come before both residents and the workers who care for them. Families are paying thousands of dollars each month (often entirely out of pocket) because Medicare or Medicaid does not cover most assisted living or long-term memory care. These are life savings being drained to ensure loved ones receive basic care. Yet somehow, the caregivers providing that care are still earning measly wages of $15 an hour.
