The World Trade Organization’s (WTO) 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14) ended on Monday with members failing to come to a consensus on several critical issues like e-commerce moratorium , import duties on digital trade, and China’s investment proposal, among others. One of the biggest agenda for India was to address the long-standing moratorium on customs duties on e-commerce transmissions as it will be lapsed in March 2026. In 1998, WTO members agreed to not have customs duties on electronic transmissions for two years, a moratorium that has been extended since then.
