WASHINGTON, Feb 13 (Reuters) – Two Democratic members of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee on Friday asked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to examine the potential national security implications of a reported purchase of a $500 million stake in the Trump family’s cryptocurrency venture by the United Arab Emirates’ national security adviser. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Andy Kim asked Bessent, who heads the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, to determine whether a CFIUS review is required of the 49% UAE stake in World Liberty Financial and, if so, to conduct a comprehensive, thorough and unbiased investigation.
