Sensex, Nifty open lower as IT stocks see decline in early trade

Benchmark stock market indices opened lower on Monday as IT stocks fell in early trade, dragging the markets down. Metal stocks see a rise, but the gains on markets were capped by a decline in IT shares. The S&P BSE Sensex was down by 68.48 points to 85,693.53, while the NSE Nifty50 lost 15.35 points to 26,313.20 as of 9:23 am.
