Denmark furious as Trump appoints ‘totally unacceptable’ Greenland envoy

Trump has repeatedly stated his intention to take control of Greenland given the island’s geopolitically important position in the Arctic, offshore oil and gas reserves and untapped mineral wealth valued at about $186 billion by the American Action Forum think tank. Greenland, an official part of the kingdom of Denmark and a former Danish colony, is largely self-governing but subject to Copenhagen’s foreign and security policy.
