Malaysia’s Trade Policy Shakeup: Anti-Dumping Duties on Steel

In a recent announcement, Malaysia confirmed the continuation of anti-dumping duties on cold rolled coils of iron and non-alloy steel, specifically those more than 1,300 mm wide, imported from China and Japan. This decision aims to protect local industries from the flood of inexpensive international steel, safeguarding market stability. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s trade ministry revealed plans to terminate similar duties on imports from South Korea and Vietnam starting Monday, signalling a strategic shift in trade relations with these countries.
