Premarket: Stocks and U.S. dollar cautiously welcome latest U.S.-China trade detente

Stock markets and the U.S. dollar gave a guarded welcome on Wednesday to the latest signs of progress in trade talks between the United States and China, while waiting for more detail of what was decided and whether it would stick for long. Bond investors were also hunkered down for a reading on U.S. inflation that could show the early impact of tariffs on prices, and a Treasury auction that will test demand for the country's debt.
