Myanmar's resistance movement against the ruling military junta has announced a unilateral partial ceasefire to facilitate earthquake relief efforts as the death toll from the disaster reached more than 1600 people. On Saturday night, Myanmar's shadow National Unity Government, which coordinates the popular struggle against the junta, said its armed wing, the People's Defense Force will implement a two-week pause in offensive military operations starting on Sunday in earthquake-affected areas.
