THE RISKS TO the Irish economy of US tariffs are "extremely high", according to a new report on the potential fallout from a looming international trade war. The report, conducted by the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), analysed the consequences of US tariffs on Irish economic growth into next year. It warns of increases in unemployment, inflation and net decreases in exports and imports which could arise from a tit-for-tat tariff war between the EU and US.
