Chinese warships cause flight disruption in Tasman airspace between Australia and New Zealand

Commercial pilots have been warned to avoid airspace between Australia and New Zealand where a Chinese naval task group may have conducted live fire exercises. Defence were alerted by Beijing on Friday of their intent to conduct live fire exercises about 640km east of Eden, but it's not yet clear what the extent of the exercises were. The Chinese have not breached international law, but it caused a "significant disruption" prompting several flights to be diverted.
