Military chief warns of Australia's 'low preparedness' for war

Defence chiefs have warned that "anxiety" over Australia's strategic circumstances will be a permanent feature of competition in the Indo-Pacific and admitted the military needs to overcome workforce shortages, low preparedness and overhaul weapons procurement to successfully deter Chinese threats to peace. In addresses to the RAAF's Air and Space Conference in Canberra on Wednesday, they also called for a big boost to space capability, saying Australia could not afford to be complacent while other countries developed and launched satellites.
