India remembers Siachen ops on 40th anniversary

New Delhi: India commemorates 40 years since the launch of Operation Meghdoot, a critical mission to secure the strategic heights of the Siachen glacier, acknowledged as the highest battlefield in the world. The Siachen glacier at the height of around 20,000 feet is located in the Karakoram mountain range, where soldiers have to battle frostbite and high winds.
