Before the bell: Futures tread water, Canadian bank results still in focus

Equities Wall Street futures were steady to slightly lower early Wednesday after a three-day winning streak. Major European markets were mixed after a positive start. TSX futures were little changed. In the early premarket period, futures linked to the Dow, S&P and Nasdaq were all just below break even. All three saw another day of gains on Thursday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq adding more than 1 per cent. All three are down about 2 per cent or more for August so far.
