A few months back, when Elon Musk was starting to makes noises about Twitter, I wrote that he seemed to have a basic misunderstanding of how it works. He declared that some of the top accounts with the most followers (including that of one E Musk) tweet rarely, and he asked: "Is Twitter dying?" At the time it seemed almost inexplicable that a supposedly serious person with a reputation for original thinking could have shared such an analysis.
