Albanese welcomes the prospect of breakthrough meeting with Xi

Anthony Albanese has welcomed the prospect of a breakthrough meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping next week but stressed nothing has been finalised. Following a phone call on Tuesday between Foreign Minister Penny Wong and her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, speculation arose that Mr Albanese and Mr Xi would meet on either the sidelines of either the G20 leader's summit in Bali, or the subsequent Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Bangkok, Thailand.
