A brand new virus has been detected at the Chinese laboratory at the center of Covid’s origin. Researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology discovered the pathogen — code-named LsPyV KY187 — in a mouse. It belongs to a family of polyomaviruses which infect millions of children every year but are extremely mild. Scientists at the controversial lab made the find after testing hundreds of rodents in Kenya in 2016 and 2019.
