Apart from the casinos, which primarily remain open, authorities in Macau have locked down a number of residential buildings as they attempt to contain an increasing number of COVID-19 incidents that have brought the town to a standstill. Macau is the world's largest gambling hub. The former Portuguese colony reported 39 new infections on Friday, bringing the total number of infections in the current outbreak to 149.
