US venture capital firm QED Investors, which has backed six Indian startups, is looking to expand its investment mandate to include Southeast Asia and Africa, according to its Asia partner Sandeep Patil. The fintech-focused VC firm, which has some 26 unicorns in its portfolio, had until recent years focused mainly on the US, Europe and Latin America. The rapid maturity in overseas fintech ecosystems, as well as QED's need to diversify its portfolio, led the investor to drive a greater push abroad.
