The Bureau of Customs (BOC) foiled on Tuesday, June 14, the attempt to smuggle some P4-million worth of illegally imported carrots at the Manila International Container Port (MICP). BOC Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Raniel Ramiro said the operation that foiled the smuggling started from information about a shipment possibly containing smuggled agricultural products from China. The BOC, though its Customs’ Intelligence Group (IG) and the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, then examined the identified shipments and found out that they were containing smuggled carrots. “This is the kind of work from our agents that we are happy to see happening....
