HANOI, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam recorded 1,587 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, down by 128 from Thursday, according to its Ministry of Health. All the new infections were domestically transmitted in 51 provinces and cities. The Vietnamese capital Hanoi was the pandemic hotspot with 373 new cases recorded on Friday, followed by the northern Phu Tho province with 102 and the northern Vinh Phuc province with 92. The infections brought the total tally to 10,706,111 with 43,075 deaths. Nationwide, 9,390,032 COVID-19 patients, or nearly 88 percent of the infections, have so far recovered.
