On 3 October the United States urged the Chinese communist regime to halt its “provocative” military activities near Taiwan after Beijing sent about 100 aircraft to the island’s air defense zone over a three-day period. The island’s defense ministry said that on October 1, 2 and again on October 3, Chinese military planes flew over the area, warning Taiwan to turn its fighter jets away from the aircraft.
