Research firm Wood Mackenzie and the US Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) have released a new report exploring trends within the country’s solar energy market. The study has found an increase in prices across all solar energy market segments for the first time in seven years. The utility-scale sector recorded the highest increase of 6% year-over-year since 2014, according to the study. The increases are due to supply chain constraints, despite the solar energy market adding up 5.7GW of energy capacity in the second quarter of 2021.
