Chinese sanctions against US officials and Washington respond: We do not care about Chinese measures!

These sanctions are the first imposed by China in implementation of a new law in response to foreign sanctions issued in June, and come days before a visit to China scheduled by US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, amid escalating tension in relations between the two countries. China has also imposed sanctions on current or former representatives of a number of bodies, including China's Congressional Executive Committee and the US-China Economic and Security Review Committee.
