Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman is headed to China next week in what is seen as the first step towards a potential summit between President Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping. In June, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the White House was considering setting up a Biden-Xi meeting.
