A new oceanographic research and training vessel named after Sun Yat-sen University was delivered for service in Shanghai on Saturday. The vessel with a displacement of 6,880 tonnes has a cruising range of 15,000 nautical miles. Dubbed a "maritime laboratory," it is designed with multiple scientific research functions like exploration, sampling and experiments.
