China cancels Everest spring climb citing Covid concerns days after ‘line of separation’ move India Today | May 15, 2021 at 1:03 PM China has decided to cancel the 2021 spring climbing season from the Tibetan side of Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak, because of coronavirus concerns, the official Xinhua news agency said on Saturday. In contrast, a total of 21 Chinese climbers had secured approval for climbs in spring. At least 311 people have died on the slopes of the mountain.
