by Read Sector China approved its first Covid-19 vaccine for general public use, developed by state-owned drug maker Sinopharm. The pharmaceutical giant announced on Thursday that the vaccine, which is said to be 79 per cent effective, had been approved. The efficacy rate is based on interim analysis of Phase III clinical trials of the drug, developed by the Beijing Biological Products Institute, a unit of Sinopharm subsidiary China National Biotec Group (CNBG).
