Travellers from Italy brought Covid-19 to more than a quarter of the virus-hit countries outside mainland China, according to an analysis mapping the global spread of the disease. In almost two thirds of the 99 nations affected in the first 11 weeks of the pandemic, the initial coronavirus cases were linked to travellers from just three countries: 27 per cent saw the virus arrive via Italy, 22 per cent from China and 11 per cent via Iran.
